as i m always evolving, every now and again i need to make a point about my latest sound. curveballs has been especially written to showcase the full range of my current sound and features a carefully selected collection of tracks designed for a club environment. riva starr dance musics prolific italian-born london-based sharpshooter riva starr set to release fourth artist album curveballs via adam beyer s revered truesoul records. riva starr has been shaking up the world of dance music with his eclectic and unpredictable palette of sounds and styles for over a decade. over the years, he has racked up numerous accolades and achievements including releasing 3 acclaimed albums (if life gives you lemons, make lemonade in 2010, hand in hand in 2013 and definition of sound in 2016), having a myriad of single/ep releases on some of dance music s most established labels (snatch! records, hot creations, relief, crosstown rebels, dirtybird) and amassing an impressive remix resume of artists including audion, groove armada, dennis ferrer, usher, estelle, london grammar, fatboy slim, reboot and david morales. with all of this success and experience under his belt, the time has come for the talented italian to deliver his much awaited fourth long-player, curveballs comprising of 12 stellar tracks inspired by current club sounds and old school music elements, driven by starr s endeavor to produce music that stands the test of time. the lp s striking opener, always gets things underway and sets the tone with its powerful house groove, warm chord stabs and divine soulful vocal courtesy of legendary house diva jocelyn brown. elsewhere, there s the funk-driven disco-tinged piknik, the uplifting needin u esque disco loco, the dark and commanding the hole (release your soul) and the pounding peak-time synth-laden roller give me love. other highlights include, the infectious breakbeat workout britcoin, the techy electro-tinged fresh and the experimental synth-driven techno gem analhog. the album concludes with 3 fine cuts in the form of the bass heavy tr-909 laden ride, the funk-fueled house groover mantra (early in the morning) and an exclusive deep-house-esque dub version of give me love to round off yet another essential long-player from one of dance music s much-loved artists

this is a reissue of a short-lived and obscure uk dance music label. a compilation of tracks featured on releases across 3 ep’s between 1991 and 1993 incorporating recently emergent dub techno and progressive acid house sounds. nation of noise was conceived in the early 90 s, following a meeting of minds between the producer and ambient soho mainstay django, and vocalist jon martin (of pizzaman fame) at the legendary soho institution: the brain. plate 1 is a fully remastered reissue of the first nation of noise record - xes noiz, featuring 4 locked grooves. plate 2 takes two tracks off both the lockgroove and super bubble ep s. one side is smooth, after-hours deep house whilst the other reaches for two progressive, acid cuts. fully remastered.

limited edition cream coloured lp with bonus 12 inch. solipsism is an archival release of music from mike simonetti’s tenure as owner of italians do it better records, spanning from 2006-2013. during that time mike wrote a lot of music. some of it was used for films, some for tv commercials, some for fashion shows and he even released a record or two.

after an essential hiatus, 12 inches deep returns with a brand new project. introducing hot dime recordings, house and garage based on a different set of metrics, uk garage. the brainchild of 12id label founder, urbanite, and none other than uk garage legend, karl tuff enuff- brown, of tuff jam fame, hot dime recordings launches an all new, us based uk garage platform, with 2tuf4u vol. 1, a massive compilation hand selected from karls prolific vault of works and collaborations. turn to the a side for a joint effort between karl brown, and fellow ledge, jeremy sylvester, as -tuff asylu with an original, and individual hot mixes. flip to the opposite side for another pair of special hot mixes, this time of the anthill mobs when i think of you, followed by a swinging donk mix from the unmistakable, dem2, to round out the volume. one not to be missed.

if there s one thing wolf music know a thing or two about, it s house music. so its no surprise then that they ve decided to reissue a golden 2003 deep house nugget in the form of brs (british rhythm services) spring dom. reissued from the original dat tapes spring dom is one of those timeless records that even 15 years on sounds as soulful as it did when it first hit the racks. echoed sweeping stabs, chunky drum loops and powerful synth flurries alongside those mesmerising vocal refrains, all tied together with a driving bassline - this is deep, deep goodness of the highest degree. reworking spring dom for the present day, wolf mainstay medlar provides a rave tinged remix, chopping the vocals and reworking the synth lines to give it a peak time, dancefloor demeanour. the flip houses the other two tracks from the original 03 release - clubtronic with it s ukg flavoured beat, m1 pads and jazzy free flowing melodies and miss you combining a bumping groove, dynamic bass melody and stirring rhodes chords. a much-welcomed reissue package from the wolf camp and a chance to own this house treasure without feeding the sharks.

deru aka benjamin wynn is an emmy award winning american composer and music producer. deru’s last record, 1979, dealt with individual human emotions. his new project, torn in two, zooms out and deals with human existence as a whole. it finds feelings of frustration, dissociation and anger, but from a high vantage that affords perspective and allows the project to include acceptance, beauty and tranquility. torn in two is set for release on october 19th via friends of friends (anenon, shlohmo, perera elsewhere). the music lives in evolving landscapes of violence and beauty, with compositions that shape-shift, flutter, and decimate one s sense of time and place. the album is a collection of microtonal pieces where the pitches were derived from acoustic instruments, and processed woodwind and brass recordings. both represented new directions for wynn, and the results are pieces that are more dynamic and full-spectrum than his previous body of work. they explode into walls of distortion and recede into quiet acoustics.

new years deal - dresden s lockertmatik starts his engines for the first time on shtum and delivers a string of tracks that seem to come from a not so far away dystopian future. here are four tracks that are unpretentious but elaborate, effective but not overambitious. -break the chains- sets the bars in terms of dark techno bliss for both basements and bigger dancefloors. on -message from the underdog- lockertmatik shows off his knack for acidic perfection while -jaku- gets the jazz treatment. finally, -313 - 0351- is all about building tension without losing one bit of impact on the dancefloor. the artwork comes courtesy of carl-johannes schulze.

mukatsuku kicks off the incoming autumn period with two delicious slabs of dreamy jazzual bliss from spanish artist and multi-talented musician marc friedli aka skymark. both tracks are presented here in a single form for the first time. “flying fantasy” is taken from the “resistance sonore” album on marc’s own label imprint modern sun from 2016 here in an exclusive instrumental version. on the flipside “rhodes e serenidade” is lifted from the “waves from the nucleus” long player from 2015.

denis sulta has announced new offshoot to his sulta selects imprint, silver service. the debut release comes from cromby an irish born, berlin based producer on the up. following a thumping set at belfasts beloved ava festival, his new ep will be released on 21st september and features three peak-time club weapons, inspired by the sounds of classic chicago house. the lead futurola is a hard-hitting, jacking house track that packs a fierce bassline and emotive punch, whilst b1, barneymania is a chicago-tinged acid roller that layers melodic chords, the ep ends with the dark and sci-fi-tinged electro of fandango. the new label follows on from denis sulta’s selects imprint home to three volumes of his own essential 12inch series

people plus are cz wang and joli b., signaling from a studio and or hut in some remote location. their debut ep consists of three trips into time in just as many styles. side a belongs to olympus mons, a song as big as the mountain its named from. snake charmer synth lines and vocal roars backed by the baddest rhythm section in a while wait for the solo! the b side holds work it out, with broken 4-off-the-floor drumz and revving echo effects. taking the coveted b1 spot is the always dancefloor smashing second cycle - a verified banger that opens up with ground shaking acidish filter bubbles, and closes somewhere way up above the clouds.

super deep african / new age / minimalistic / ambient crossover from cabo verde - not the typical record, a beautiful listening experience check! originally conceived as a book of 6 poems that developed into a record released independently in 1986, universo da ilha sits at the cross-section of many different genres. connecting contemporary new age and ambient minimalist movements with traditional west african and cape verdean elements from the past (griot voices, djembe rhythms, melancholic morna), vasco constructed his own universe where, in spite of the isolation of the island at the time, he transcended barriers and created a global record that was ahead of its time vasco used his own synths and drum machines, and with the help of a small group of friends (tey gonçalves on percussion, neney’s amazing griot voice, luis morais on sax and flute), he recorded this not-balearic-but-atlantic ambient odyssey on a 16-channel peavey mixer directly to an akai tape recorder without overdubs.

canadian duo mdd make their slam debut following on from their first release in 2018 on and imprint inner surface. unforgiving, dark and distorted techno at its best. somber vocals and murky atmospheres create a wicked tension throughout the ep. manni dee also features for the first time on slam and gives his contribution by remixing opal fall into a driving dance floor stomper.

brassfoot makes his dba debut following a number of appearances at the dba presents parties. since breaking through with his apron ep on funkinevens world-leading label in 2015, brassfoot has turned heads with releases on uttu, paul du lac s bio rhythm, and his own seminal nca recordings. on the indentured servitude ep brassfoot showcases his own unique stepping house and techno flavour across six tracks, with time to meditate and reflect between the party-starting peak timers also included. blinds down, crouched over my desk, i switch on my machines. whatever the final result is, i wouldn t even bother unless i was having fun first. sometimes theres just one tiny portion of magic after a long recording session, but its always about the enjoyment first. its dark inside and it influences the mood of the music. it s also dark outside and it s obvious where that leaves its mark. only one music is delighted to present enrico mantini feat. x woman - what you want (12-) from 1994. enrico remastered this outstanding beauty and now it s time to press the vinyl. don t sleep on this!

german producer and dj boys noize has announced the release of his much-anticipated cover version of adamski and seal’s 1990 rave classic ‘killer’ on 12&#8243, vinyl, via the vinyl factory and boysnoize records. featuring vocalist steven a. clark, the original 12&#8243, version is backed by an instrumental, both of which you can listen to below: as boys noize says: “being a ’90s kid i kind of grew up with this song which later became one of these tunes i’d play out at the end of the night. when i met steven and heard his voice for the first time i immediately thought of that track and the idea of doing a cover version was born. it was initially just for fun but it turned banging and lit the dance floors wherever i’d drop it.” adamski and seal’s original represented something of a breakthrough for both the producer and vocalist, spending four weeks at the top of the uk singles chart in the summer of 1990. speaking to journalist dave simpson in the guardian in 2013 seal explains the impact the song had on his career: “within a week, i went from being a relative nobody – this weird guy at raves, with silver bits in my hair – to a household name.” boys noize’ ‘killer’ is out now on 12&#8243, vinyl, limited to 500 copies.

phenomenal only album released by transs, a supergroup band project led by fariz rm, that came out in the early 80s. a full blend of soul, funk, cosmic disco, brazilian jazz and synth-pop. this album had a very big impact on the indonesian music scene at that time, and quickly became the trendsetter of the jazz fusion genre throughout the 1980s.

for the first time on lp, maestro morricone’s full score for the erotico-giallo « grazie zia », directed in 1968 by savatore samperi and starring italian actress lisa gastoni, on this unique soundtrack, the genius composer has created a magical and suspenseful atmosphere based on the recurrent use of the boy’s choir of renata cortiglioni including the killer theme «guerra e pace, pollo e brace» with its funny rhyme and ferocious drums. limited edition with obi strip included. remastered from original tapes.

mop mop is the brainchild of andrea benini, musician, producer, dj who has been active for more than ten years exploring a large variety of musical genres, from club to jazz music. „kiss of kali“ is the name of his second album - originally released in 2008 only on cd, now available on vinyl for the first time.

another master of the soundtrack is francesco de masi, that, through a long carrier, has moved between different genres, giving the soundtrack to spaghetti western movies (like vado l’ammazzo e torno) comedies, and action movies like la macchina della violenza (the big game), by robert day. a soundtrack that goes from tense and nervous songs, to soft ballads with female voice.

lithuanian based label sodai started its journey in 2016, making it a label still in it’s infancy but making a big impression. owned by artist gardens of god, who started the label to create his own ‘no limits’ plat-form for his experimental sounds and projects. while at the same time a platform to give other artists the chance to also have freedom with art and music. with releases from raxon, few nolder and third son under their belt, the label shows no sign of slowing down, next in line is italian producer alex schaufel (suara, diynamic) who is welcomed to the label with a his heavy hitting four track ep entitled ‘roots’.

dreadsquad, aka marek bogdanski, returns to the scene with the second and third instalments of his riddim machine series. as part of a collaboration consisting of dreadsquad’s own superfly studio and the renowned moonshine recordings, listeners are in for a treat, courtesy of poland’s most prolific reggae dancehall producer. as ever, dreadsquad manage to encapsulate all evolutions of reggae – from rocksteady, roots and rub-a-dub to dancehall and dub – all with a present-day twist to keep the bass bins rumbling and the people skanking.

for our second release of 2018 ears have eyes are back with the third instalment of our throng of orbs compilation series. this time around we welcome back old friends, and bring in some new names to the ehe fold, with a collection of tracks spanning deep emotive house music, broken beats and acid dancefloor pressure. first up we have contours, who burst onto the scene in 2015 with an excellent release on the mighty rhythm section, and has put out a slew of great records since then. dither takes time to unfold, but when the fluid acid line emerges from the heady percussion he really sets up the track for dancefloor perfection. for the a2 we welcome back chocky to the label, and he serves up a slice of weighty house music that drips quality and emotion. pickle dat kicks off with an absolute beauty of a groove, understated but weighty, and from there chocky goes on to sprinkle just the right amount of seasoning, with soulful rhodes licks and a wonderful bass line. off the back of their excellent 12- on love on the rocks, elles x violet kick off the b side with yrnyb, a tried and tested dancefloor destroyer. when we heard elles playing this in a dark basement in peckham, we just had to sign it. sometimes a kick drum, an acid line and a half heard vocal is all you need. finishing off the release we have dublin artist replete serving up a lovely slice of hazy, percussive house music that slowly builds to a crescendo. an acidic bassline sits nicely over congas and a warm, rounded kick drum.

the spiritual and uplifting music of clifford white is highlighted with two of his most sought after songs, taken from his 1989 album the lifespring, and presented here in a special extended 12inch for the first time. starting in music production at just 15, white could be described as a protegee, however his take is that they were part of a music journey that continues today. with a centre found in electronic music and spirituality, his progress, from simple home use 4-track stereo to working in professional 16-tracks studios was swift, but matched by a deeper appreciation, greater confidence and wider palette of music styles

it’s been three rough years since mirrors for psychic warfare sprang into existence with their startling self titled debut, but don’t think for a second that the time was spent idle, this unit (comprised of neurosis’ scott kelly and producer sanford parker) constructed an even more unnerving and destructive record with “i see what i became,” i know, hard to believe. over the course of these eight bile-rich pieces a sonic abattoir is erected, exploited, and razed. turbulence rises and churns giving way to rhythmic machinations, lights flicker, a grand mal/guignol seizure besets a frog-headed snitch, blood collects in a stainless steel gutter. claustrophobic sudor that evokes all you held dear from skinny puppy, foetus, godflesh, bath tub tina, and wondering where the fuck you will sleep, provided you ever do. there’s nothing fun here, nothing but the cold of an autopsy followed by the heat of a crematorium. a sliver of galvanized bone flies from a circular saw into the toothless maw of a streetwalking kali yuga. good or bad, i’m not sure what we did to deserve this.

a memorably bracing, momentarily pummeling highlight of ‘song for alpha’, daniel avery perfectly bridges the light and dark contrast of his influences on standout cut, ‘diminuendo’. uncompromising tech-noid drums establish genuine frenzy, matched by a pulsating industrial drone, ultimately collapsing into ethereal feedback, before one final round of frenetic rhythm.

hijacked records detroit is feeling inspired after hearing new work from one of our favourite allies in techno, jules wells. we felt it was our duty to deliver this to the people, three new productions from jules with a guest remix from our own antwon faulkner. please enjoy - -silent orchestra.- the title track from jules really set the bar for this release. jules really understands story telling with music and this track transports you to a time in techno that was both hopeful and beautifully heart breaking. a persistent chord progression is wrapped in celestial synth harmonies filing up the space all around you and reaching in. that classic clap is underpinned with a touch of acid, creating an edge. at the 4:33 mark an enchanting and haunting sign wave tells a melodic tragedy. strings come in delicately but wash over you completely. this track is both stunning and devastating.

by now, the story of how jlin went from working in a steel factory in gary, indiana to being one of the most widely appreciated electronic musicians is well known. “black origami” was one of the most lauded albums last year. seriously prolific and seriously hard-working, she has toured constantly since its may 2017 release and despite being involved in a wide range of projects, still manages to find a balance and time to “do some personal healing and growing.”
here we are over a year later with “autobiography,” the score for her collaboration with renowned british choreographer wayne mcgregor (a collaboration arranged by krakow’s unsound). this isn’t technically her third album (that’s due to arrive in 2019 or 2020), but the soundtrack stands up on its own with all the emotional peaks and troughs of a well-sequenced lp.

this is amsterdam based musique exotique’s launch realised in the form of a seducitive solid white, blue & purple 12” record that includes a free digital download (printed on the label) as well as wonderful cover art by the infamous japanese twins, hamadaraka.
dutch artists machinegewehr and ayden vice team up to bring that timeless retro italo vibe with moroder inspired bass arpeggiation, mysterious vocals and epic pads.
on the b side, san francisco based dutch artist, yobkiss, offers up a masterful remix taking the track into darker electro territory. his offering includes beautifully haunting japanese vocals by the producer’s long time collaborator yuko araki for exceptional exotiqueness.

br welcomes a special release for its 4th episode. this time it s a team work, showing a large scale of the label s tastes with strongly different tracks between breaky house-techno, downtempo and idm.
